The renowned Israeli security expert Gabi Siboni will address the difficult and complex situation in the Middle East, which has worsened massively since the Hamas massacre of Israeli citizens on October 7, 2023.
On the one hand, we are facing major questions:
With whom is Israel fighting?
How can Israel bring the current war to a successful end?
How can the hostages still held captive by Hamas be freed as quickly as possible?
Is peace possible?
What needs to happen in the Gaza Strip so that it does no longer pose a threat to Israel?
On the other hand, we are facing a worldwide surge in anti-Semitism and hatred of Israel and condemnation of its right to self-defense as a sovereign democratic state.
How do the security risks that Israel is confronted with affect its relations with the rest of the world?
What is the role of Europe and Germany in this context?
Prof. Gabi Siboni is an expert in National Security, Military strategy and Cyber security. Siboni was Director of the Military and Strategic Affairs Program and the Cyber Research Program at the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) from 2006 to 2020, where he founded academic journals on these topics.
He is author of numerous articles and a few books, and serves as a senior consultant for the IDF and other Israeli security organizations, as well as for the security industry. He holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Engineering from Tel Aviv University and a Ph.D. in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from Ben-Gurion University.
